![]() ![]() ![]() One of the big forces behind this growth is the wealth of online support and information offered by individuals and independent publications dedicated to raising awareness of women’s unique struggles and experiences with autism. This is an important topic that has been gaining steam in the research and advocacy worlds as women who were never diagnosed or recognized as autistic in their youths are discovering their diagnoses on the spectrum through both self-evaluation and formal evaluation. (Read full study here.) If you haven’t read the previous two posts, the article is all about a study performed in the UK that interviewed and looked at women on the spectrum and their unique manifestations in terms of autism characteristics. This week, I’m taking a final look at the article “The Experiences of Late-Diagnosed Women with Autism Spectrum Conditions: An Investigation of the Female Autism Phenotype” from authors Sarah Bargiela, Robyn Steward, and William Mandy, published online in 2016 in the Journal of Autism and Developmental Disorders. ![]() ![]() ![]()

Ethics is, thus, that branch of philosophy that studies morality and deals with the questions of right and wrong. Ethics is referred to as a branch of learning that associates itself with good conduct. In the Greek tradition of philosophy, political science was formulated after ethics. Perhaps, it is for this reason that Plato, the ancient Greek philosopher, considered it crucial to reach a theory of justice.įinding out the principles of justice is the main concern in Plato's Republic, to the extent that it is also subtitled as ‘Concerning Justice’. Justice has been the most critical part of a person's morality since time immemorial. The question of justice has been central to every society, and in every age, it surrounds itself with debate. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() She’s a poet, historian and longtime falconer, and for complicated reasons, she seizes upon a strange yet sublime prescription for what ails her: She will raise and train a young goshawk, a cur of a bird to some, notoriously difficult to tame. The premise of her memoir is simple: Macdonald loses her bearings after her beloved father’s sudden death. In her breathtaking new book, “H Is for Hawk,” winner of the Samuel Johnson Prize and the Costa Book Award, Helen Macdonald renders an indelible impression of a raptor’s fierce essence - and her own - with words that mimic feathers, so impossibly pretty we don’t notice their astonishing engineering. It calls for poetry and science, conjuring and evidence. If birds are made of air, as the nature writer Sy Montgomery says, then writing a great bird book is a little like dusting for the fingerprints of a ghost. ![]() ![]() And even though I plugged away to the finish, I never came around to rooting for or caring if Mitch got the better of the bad guys.
